Energy Ordinance for Commercial Buildings Brings New Compliance Requirements

Written by Jessica Brown, Consultant

The stringency of Energy Benchmarking regulations has been increasing over the years as a way to decrease the environmental impact of large businesses. In June of 2019, Los Angeles commercial buildings are required to comply for another year of energy and water benchmarking.

Los Angeles Existing Buildings Energy and Water Efficiency Ordinance (EBEWE):

Commercial Buildings over 20,000 ft2 are required to benchmark their energy and water usage by June 1st 2019 and every year afterwards.

In addition these buildings must perform an energy assessment every five years.

As a building owner, submitting compliance reports can be tedious, time consuming, and expensive. While finding the right partner to help your business comply, consider that these regulations have an added bonus. Reducing the energy consumption of your building increases your bottom line. Savings gained from energy upgrades are significant and the partnership between UHG consultants and Fulcrum Resources Engineering created qualified a team dedicated to commercial compliance.
